New Stickers!
10 Nov 2009
Wow, long time no post, eh? Been slow to get content posted and have completely neglected the news/blog/whatever, but for once I have something worthy of posting about.

Printmaking pal, Philip, recently did a kick ass job printing up some stickers for me and they just arrived. Philip not only has a degree in printmaking and works in the print industry. He also has his own DIY screenprinting shop right out of his home. He's also offering such services at criminally low prices. If you've been looking to get some stickers or posters done, drop Philip a line.

Contact Phil at phil@theshallowend.com or visit The Shallow End Press.

Gouache Resist, Part Deux
21 Jul 2008
It’s been a while since I first posted my tutorial for the process of gouache resist. And if you follow my works you’ll notice I’ve done plenty more since then, and have learned a lot more in the process. Since I love doing it so much, I thought it’d be nice to document and share the makings of some of my most recent pieces, Subterranean Flaming Cow Head, Hot Coffee and King Norimori.

Moving On!
11 Jun 2008
This site has been slow on updates and sparse on artwork these last few months, mostly due to graduation and partly because... we've moved!

After twenty three years of living in California, I've finally flown the coop! My partner in crime, Richard, and I had to pursue new opportunities shortly after I graduated from California College of the Arts. California's been good to me, and living in San Francisco was an experience I wouldn't trade for the world, but it was time to move on.

We've now set up shop in San Antonio, Texas, in Richard's childhood home no less! Now we have more space than we know what to do with! Rest assured though, we will find a use for every nook and cranny in our new home. Living in San Francisco taught me a lot about economy of space and how grateful we are to have some finally. That being said, there are many, many interesting projects in the works, now that we have the elbow room to do so. I can't be sure what direction my work will take from now on, but I'm excited to find out.

Keep in touch, everyone! Good things are on the way!
Fresco

jenn painting... Last semester I took a fresco class, and we were lucky enough to be able to paint on an actual wall. These are photos of our progress. The location is a church in Oakland, CA that is going to be converted into a neighborhood center for arts.

Long Time…
5 Oct 2007
No updates! Well, there's been plenty going on, even if I haven't given this site much attention.

I'm currently on my last semester at California College of the Arts, working hard on my thesis. Then, it's out into the scary, unforgiving world for me, and I'm trying to prepare as much as I can.

I have a show on the San Francisco campus coming up, if you didn't see the flyer on the front page. If you're in the area, it'd be nice if you stopped by to see what I've been working on, since not all of it will be seen on this site.

November 5 - 10th
Reception: November 6th, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

1111 Eighth Street, San Francisco, CA 94107

Gouache Resist Tutorial
22 Mar 2006
I recently had a go at a neat art technique called gouache resist. The principle is that you use the water soluble properties of gouache (opaque watercolor) to lift color painted over it (in this case ink). It yields results similar to certain printmaking techniques and even artistic Xerox copies.

Confused? Let me show you...
